| DuPont™ Acturel® FAQs |

Is Acturel® a new fabric?
No. This breathable, impervious medical fabric has been available on a limited basis for about two years. It is specially designed for high-fluid, long-duration procedures that require a higher degree of protection and pose special challenges for O.R. personnel.

How is Acturel® made?
Acturel® is made of three layers—polyester nonwoven as an inner layer, DuPontTM Hytrel® as a breathable membrane layer and spunbonded polypropylene as an outer layer. The first two layers are formed by an extrusion coating process and the final outer layer is attached to the layer of Hytrel® by an adhesive lamination process.

Can I order gowns of Acturel® directly from DuPont Medical Fabrics?
No. DuPont Medical Fabrics does not manufacture gowns and drapes. We supply our family of innovative fabrics to converters such as Medline Industries and Mölnlycke Healthcare to name a few. Click here for a complete list of where to buy gowns and drapes made of DuPont fabrics.

Are there any trade shows where I can see—and feel—DuPontTM Acturel® breathable, impervious medical fabric?
Yes. Please click here to see our recent trade show appearances and get a schedule of upcoming events.

When you’re protected and comfortable in the O.R., you’re in control—able to focus on what you’re doing.
